Can I journal trades placed in the MT5 mobile app?

The short answer

You can place trades on mobile and review them in Chart Reporter, but the reporting EA needs desktop MT5 or a suitable VPS connected to the same broker account. The mobile app does not run the reporter. Mobile execution and journal capture are separate parts of the workflow.

Follow the account, not the device

Imagine placing an order from your phone while the same broker account is open in desktop MT5. The order belongs to the account; it is not a separate mobile-only position. A running reporter on the desktop terminal can observe the account's activity and send the journal record onward. The phone remains your execution device.

The account match is essential. A desktop terminal signed into a demo account will not capture an order placed in your live account. Check the broker server and account identity before diagnosing a sync problem. Do not send your broker password to Chart Reporter or to support to establish that match.

Give capture a place to run

The desktop or VPS terminal needs to remain connected, with the reporter attached and its WebRequest destination allowed. Closing a laptop or putting it to sleep can interrupt that environment. A VPS can provide a more persistent place to run MT5, but you should verify its terminal, network permissions and reporter setup yourself.

A journal page open in a mobile browser is not a replacement for the running terminal. It displays data already reported to the service. Opening that page cannot make a stopped desktop EA resume. Conversely, you do not need to keep the dashboard tab open for a correctly configured terminal to report.

Verify the handoff without placing a test trade

Start by checking terminal last-seen status in Chart Reporter. Then inspect a known trade's account, ticket, time and final state under an unrestricted date window. This checks an existing record rather than creating financial exposure just to test a connection.

If a trade appears but replay is unavailable, investigate candle coverage separately. Trade reporting and captured chart context can complete at different times. An online heartbeat demonstrates recent contact; it does not prove that every historical trade and candle has arrived. Keep the terminal connected and follow the missing-data guide for unresolved gaps.
