Why does my saved journal view not appear on another device?
By Chart Reporter Reviewed 2 min read
The short answer
Chart Reporter's named views, queue membership and reviewed state are saved in the current browser, separately for each signed-in account. They do not sync between devices. Notes and tags are account trade data, so their persistence has a different scope.
Separate the two kinds of persistence
A saved view captures review context such as shared filters and the available saved arrangement. It is a convenience for returning to that setup in this browser. It is not a cloud bookmark guaranteed to appear in every browser where you sign in.
A note saved to a trade is different. It belongs to the account's trade data rather than only to the browser's saved-view collection. Understanding that distinction prevents a missing local preset from being mistaken for a loss of the trade or its account-stored notes.
Know what can remove or block local state
Clearing site data, using a different browser profile or moving to another device can remove access to the original local views. Browser storage restrictions can also prevent review completion from being recorded. Read the visible error instead of assuming the save succeeded.
The current review persistence uses Web Locks to coordinate writes. If another tab changes the stored review state while a note is saving, progression can stop with retry rather than overwrite the newer state. Browsers without the required support report persistence as unavailable instead of using an unsafe overwrite fallback.
Preserve a portable review description
If you need to reproduce a review elsewhere, record its account, date window, timezone, strategy and other filters in a suitable written note. Recreate the view on the other device and confirm the sample before comparing findings. Avoid sharing private account information unnecessarily.
Before saving a named view, save any active layout edits. Restoring a view still respects the plan's layout permissions; it does not create customisation access or replace an administrator's global default. Keep the distinction between a browser convenience and durable account evidence visible in your process, especially when moving between desktop and mobile review.
