What should a repeatable weekly trade review include?

By Chart Reporter Reviewed 2 min read

The short answer

A repeatable review starts with a defined sample and verified records, then examines a specific question. Preserve the account, dates, timezone, currency and filters. Record what the evidence shows, what is missing and what you will check in a later sample.

Freeze the sample before judging it

Choose the week using an explicit timezone and decide which accounts, strategies and symbols belong in scope. Wait for the complete accessible sample to load. If history access or a request failure limits coverage, record that limitation before ranking any results.

Check several known trades against their execution records. Confirm final-close status and net costs, and look for unintended filters or archived accounts. This first pass is about the reliability of the review material. A detailed narrative built on an incomplete sample is still incomplete.

Ask one question and inspect the relevant trades

A useful question might concern differences between two named sessions, unusually large losses or a recurring tag. Read the corresponding trade records and notes instead of relying only on the summary statistic. Include counterexamples that do not fit the pattern.

Separate what was observable at entry from what became obvious after exit. Captured chart context can help, but missing candles or screenshots should remain missing evidence. Write down which conclusion comes from the execution record, which comes from a contemporaneous note and which is a later interpretation.

Finish with a reproducible finding

Summarise the sample count, units, selected question and the records supporting the observation. A small group can justify a hypothesis to investigate without proving that a strategy or behaviour has changed. Identify what additional evidence would overturn your current interpretation.

Chart Reporter's review queue can help you move through closed trades deliberately. Notes and tags do not automatically mark a trade reviewed; completion is explicit. Review state and saved views are browser-local, so retain an appropriate written finding if you need to revisit it elsewhere. The goal is a traceable review process, not a promise that reviewing a week will improve its financial outcome.
